The Association for Information Systems announced SIGOPEN as one of 30 AIS Communities that earned the designation of Outstanding SIG, Chapter, or College for 2016.
The Outstanding Community designation celebrates the exceptional work of AIS Communities and their contributions toward supporting the mission of AIS through the advancement of knowledge and the promotion of excellence in the practice and study of information systems.
“We are very excited to recognize these outstanding communities and their contributions to our field,” said Lakshmi Iyer, AIS Vice President of SIGs and Colleges.
The Association for Information Systems announced SIGOPEN as one of 22 AIS Communities that earned the designation of Outstanding SIG, Chapter, or College for 2015.
This recognition program celebrates the exceptional work of AIS Communities. Outstanding Communities are awarded for their contributions toward supporting the mission of AIS through the advancement of knowledge and the promotion of excellence in the practice and study of information systems. Some of the criteria used to identify Outstanding Communities included holding events, tracks and workshops, publishing journals or articles, providing officer transition training, and more.

The Special Interest Group on Open Research and Practice (SIGOPEN) was chartered as an affiliated SIG of the AIS on December 13, 2014 by the Association for Information Systems Council.
